Grief or Trauma

Support for Tragedy, Trauma, Loss.

When we experience a life-changing trauma or loss in the mountains the world may feel upside-down. We may find ourselves asking questions such as:

  • How did this happen?

  • How do I grieve?

  • How do I feel safe again after such a difficult experience?

  • What is my relationship to risk?

  • Is this the end of my mountain sport career?

  • What might emerge if I were to slow down my pace in life?

  • Who am I now that I have had this experience?

What Happens in Therapy?

Therapy is a safe, caring space to process the experience and the impact it has on your life and community. We may focus on nervous system regulation if there are distressing thoughts, images, or sensations that get in the way of living life in the way that you'd like to. During our first session, we establish goals that guide our time together.

How Can I Access Care?

Aimee Frazier is listed on the Directory of the Climbing Grief Fund, which provides short term funding for mountain athletes to visit a mental health professional. Individuals seeking support can apply for funding on this website.
