This live, online workshop takes place on Saturday, March 8th, from 9-10:30 AM Pacific Standard Time. A recording will be provided to those who register but can not attend live. A $25 USD fee is due at time of registration. Scholarships are available upon request for those who want to attend but find the cost is a barrier. Meet the Host​
Aimee Frazier is a mental health therapist and the owner of Portland Hiking Therapy, a private practice specializing in hiking therapy. Her work as an eco-therapist has been featured in the New York Times and the Mazamas Bulletin. She is an avid hiker and a Mazamas mountaineer. Read more about her here.

Have you ever wondered why hiking makes you feel so good? Do you aspire to support your sense of mental well-being through an activity that you already enjoy?

This workshop is for all who hike- from mountaineers who summit glaciated peaks, to rugged thru-hikers on the trail for months, and those just stepping foot onto the trail for a short day hike for the first time.
This workshop is for hikers who want to learn how hiking can support their mental well-being. This workshop will cover:

A look at the research on hiking & mental health

How hiking supports stress reduction, improved mood, offers perspective, increases creativity, and facilitates rejuvenation

How hiking can reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD

How hiking connects us to ourselves, others, nature, the land, and something larger than ourselves

How we build relationships with places

Understanding what makes hiking meaningful for you- does it offer a sense of empowerment? Exploration? Escape from the demands of everyday life? An experience that allows you to recharge, connect with yourself, find awe and beauty, connect with your spirituality, observe the wonders of nature, be with community, feel at home, regain a sense of independence, connect with your body, push your limits, develop endurance and grit, reduced barriers to social connection- hiking reduces relational inhibition​​​​.
